Obedience is not honor.
Aelmar's first real choice is not whether he can win a battle. It is whether he will obey when obedience becomes wrong.
AN EPIC FANTASY OF HONOR, EXILE, AND DEFIANCE
THE AVATAR CHRONICLES · BOOK ONE
He refused an unjust command.
The order condemned him.
The sea gave him back.
Aelmar Swynford was raised beneath the walls of Palistotle and conscripted into an order that calls obedience virtue. When commanded to kill a helpless man, he lowers his sword instead.
Honor died long ago. Something is bringing it back.
Palistotle was built to survive siege, famine, and war.
It wears the armor of the men sworn to protect it.
THE STORY
Aelmar Swynford is a young paladin recruit in Palistotle, a fortress city where mercy has become weakness and obedience is treated as virtue.
When a farmer is condemned for failing to meet the tithe, Aelmar is ordered to kill him. He raises the blade, and refuses.
The man dies anyway. Aelmar is beaten, dragged before the commanders he served, and marked for punishment.
What follows drives him beyond the world he thought he knew, toward forgotten virtues, old powers, and a duty larger than the order that cast him aside.
They taught him to obey. His first act of honor is refusing.
Read Chapter One: Palistotle →Aelmar's first real choice is not whether he can win a battle. It is whether he will obey when obedience becomes wrong.
In a city where fear keeps order, compassion is treated as weakness, and refusing cruelty can make you the next example.
The virtues the old orders abandoned will become more than ideals. They will become the measure of the man Aelmar chooses to become.

VALASIR
Valasir bears the phoenix emblem on its hilt and the runes of the Six Virtues along its fuller. When awakened, the runes illuminate and the blade changes with them. A repaired fracture remains visible near the guard, damage deliberately left in place rather than concealed.
The runes of the Virtues line the fuller and awaken when the blade is needed. A healed fracture near the guard remains visible: a reminder that honor is not without cost.
